Ukhahlamba Drakesberg Park (229.49 km from Durban City) It is among South Africa's most popular natural attractions. This beautiful natural park houses many caves and 4000 years old rock paintings made by the San people. The Giants Cup Hiking Trail is a self-guided trail that is often visited by nature lovers. The park includes areas that are perfect for rock-climbing, hiking and mountain-biking. It has a vast wildlife, including mammals, 300 species of birds and reptiles.

KwaMuhle Museum (130 Ordnance Road, Durban) It shows Durban's local history through exhibitions of artifacts, documents and old photographs. The building itself is a historical heritage of Durban, being designed by architect William Murray-Jones in 1927 and built one year later. It is open from Monday to Saturday, between 8 30 am and 4 pm.

Durban Botanical Gardens ( a few minutes walking distance from Warwick Triangle) It holds collections of palm trees, sub-tropical trees and orchids. Contains a gift shop, information office, a boardroom and a hall building, used for exhibitions, workshops and weddings. Visitors can admire a large plant collection, including orchids, palms and cycads. The arboretum contains American, Asian and African trees.

Durban City is known as Africa's busiest port, the second largest city in the south part of Africa and the largest one in KwaZulu-Natal, having a population of more than 3 million inhabitants (2007).

Investigations made in the caves of Drakensberg suggest that the first inhabitants of Durban City came around 100,000 BC.
